In May 2020, two dams broke in Mid-Michigan. Many around the nation watched as water rushed over trees, houses, and towns. In the township of Sanford, the Sanford Flag Memorial Monument was washed away in seconds. This memorial had been built and dedicated in honor of Marine Lance Corporal Ryan Burgess who was killed in action in Iraq. When our chapter heard that the memorial would be rebuilt, we wanted to do our part to raise funds for the rebuild. In July 2020 we took on the task of collecting cans and bottles for bottle return receipts. With the help of neighboring communities, our chapter was able to raise $800 for the Ryan Burgess Foundation.
